Our client is an integrated corporate finance and broking house with a strong track record. Thier senior oil analyst is looking for a No2 to grow the team and initiate stock coverage.

Our client is an integrated corporate finance and broking house with a strong record across a number of market sectors but with excellent expertise in emerging markets, natural resources and small and mid cap stocks. The focus of the business is in providing specialist corporate finance advice together with good research and trade execution through its sales and trading teams. Working closely with the senior oil analysts, the main responsibilities will be:


  • To act as editor for a biweekly Oil and Gas “News and Views”.
  • To develop research on target companies who we wish to become our clients.
  • To assist with PB in writing occasional thematic pieces.
  • To assist on oil price forecasting and general macro as per experience.
  • When established, to develop trading ideas.
  • When FSA approved, to undertake presentations to clients and accompany clients to companies.
  • To deputise for the lead analyst as necessary.

This role would be suit an individual with an oil and gas industry background wishing to enter the City or as the next position for someone with one to three years relevant City experience who now wishes to progress their career.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A good degree in a relevant subject (eg geology, geography or economics)
  • Five years professional experience most likely to include corporate planning or economic evaluation of field prospects.
  • Experience of corporate analysis desirable but not essential.
  • Good understanding of general macro issues in the oil and energy market from general reading or professional experience.
  • Good writing style essential. Previous publication record desirable but not essential.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to market.
  • Interest in the sector and willingness to learn on the job essential
  • FSA registered or willing to take the exams in a short period.

The position will pay the market rate with a strong bonus and benefits package
